We believe that our work is never done in isolation and to have the greatest impact we must work closely with our community partners to build trusting relationships that help reduce the barriers of vulnerable individuals and families.
The SWCRC offers many programs and services that are delivered by local community partners:
Further Education Society provides a program designed for young moms Thursday mornings – call for more information and to register.
Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association provides a 16 week Family Literacy program designed to prepare immigrant pre-school children for the Early Childhood Services and Kindergarten.
Canadian Mental Health – Family Peer Support. This is for family members with experience of supporting others living with mental health and/or addictions. It is a weekly drop-in group on Monday evenings from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.
SouthWood Public Library – provides free computer courses for adults. A set of 4 beginner classes are offered every second month. Give our office a call to register.
Calgary Interfaith Food Bank – They provide the SWCRC with free program snacks and food for vulnerable families. Their commitment to supporting south west residents with food needs has allowed our agency to provide Holiday Hampers during the month of November and December. If you are interested in volunteering for Holiday Food Hamper give us a call. It runs 6 weeks prior to December 25th.
Homebridge, Homeless Prevention Program is offerred through the Children’s Cottage. If you have having difficultites that may lead you and your family to homelessness, you may benefit from the community support worker who is in our office each Monday.
Aspen Family Services: For those individuals who are ready to move forward and need the weekly support to achieve their personal goals. Visit our office on Thursday afternoons.
